FarmBooks Installation & Setup: Online Instructions for
New FarmBooks Users

The instructions below will guide you through the installation of FarmBooks Accounting Software.

Attention  Before You Begin - choose to run as a Trial or Register

When installing FarmBooks for the first time, users can choose to run the program on a trial basis or enter their Registration Number to unlock the trial.

Registered users have already purchased a FarmBooks Registration Number and may create a new farm database to customize. Users planning to run the product as a trial will need to install the sample farm in order to use the product.

When you reach Step 12 below, you will need to choose which situation applies to you.

Step 1: Insert the FarmBooks installation CD into your computer’s CD or DVD player.

Attention  Tip: If the installation screen does not load

  • Double-click My Computer on your Desktop.
  • Browse to your CD or DVD drive in the left pane of the window (it should now be named FARMBOOKSACCOUNTINGSOFTWARE) and double-click it.
  • It the launch screen does not load, double-click the file named AUTORUN.exe to begin the installation.

Step 3: Click on the Install/Upgrade to FarmBooks 4.06 button.

Step 4: Click on the Next button to begin the installation.

Step 4a:Windows 7 users may see the screen below. If you do, click the Yes button to continue.

Step 5: Click on the Next button to continue.

Step 6: Read the terms of the Software License Agreement. If you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement radio button and click Next.

Step 7: Enter Your Name and Company/Farm Name and then click Next.

Step 8: FarmBooks will be installed on your Windows volume. Confirm this and click Next.

Step 9: Click Install to continue the installation.

Step 9a: Windows 7 users may see the screen below. If you do, click either Anyone who uses this computer (all users) or Only for me to continue.

Step 10: Once the installation is completed, click on the Finish button.

Step 11: FarmBooks is now installed on your system. You can open the program by going to your desktop and double-clicking the FarmBooks icon.

Step 12: With FarmBooks installed on your system, you now have two options:

  • Option 1: Demo the program by opening the FarmBooks demo farm.
  • Option 2: If you have purchased a registered version, enter your registration # and create your first farm.

  • Option 2: Register & Create Farm

Steps to Demo FarmBooks

1. After double-clicking on the FarmBooks icon on your desktop, FarmBooks will load. Once the program is fully loaded, click on File: Open Farm.

2. Click the + sign next to FarmBooks Demo Farm and then the radio button next to the 2009 calendar year. Once completed, click Open.

3. Note that now there are tabs for you to view and manage the demo farm.

4. You now have a fully functioning version of FarmBooks to use. You have no obligation to pay, but after you enter 30 transactions you will need to purchase a FarmBooks Registration Key to continue to use the program.

Steps to Register FarmBooks & Create Your First Farm

1. After double-clicking on the FarmBooks icon on your desktop, FarmBooks will load. Once the program is fully loaded, click on File: New Farm.

2. The New Farm Wizard will load - click Next.
Step 2

3. Enter the Farm Number, your Farm Name and your Registration Key and then click Next.
Note: Your Farm Number and Farm Number are provided by Sanders Software in your purchase materials.

4. Enter your Tax ID number (if known) and your Fiscal Year Start date and then click Next.
Step 4

5. Enter your contact information and click Next.
Step 5

6. Click Finish and FarmBooks will create your farm.

7. Once completed, click OK.

8. Now open your farm by clicking File: Open Farm.
Step 8

9. Click the + sign next to your farm, then the radio button next to the calendar year and then click Open.

10. You must now set up your Bank Account. Click on Setup: Bank Accounts.

11. When the Bank Accounts window opens, click Add.

12. Enter your bank information and click Add.

13. Once completed, you can close out of the Bank Accounts window and begin entering transactions into FarmBooks.
